Effects of nitrous oxide on thoughts, emotions and memory

28 August 2025

In this study we are looking at the effects of a drug called nitrous oxide ('laughing gas') on brain functioning during various cognitive tasks. We believe that nitrous oxide can change brain functioning in specific ways which might help us better understand psychological disorders such as PTSD, depression and psychosis. Our studies may even help us to eventually develop new and more effective treatments for these disorders by helping us understand memory processes.
